A charity fashion show is taking place in honour of a much loved Isle gran who battled Parkinson’s Disease for 30 years.

Tickets are on sale for the event on September 20 that will feature a fashion show and high street clothing clearance sale.

The event will raise cash for Parkinson’s UK in memory of Violet Bottamley who died in May aged 88.

Violet’s grandaughter Lauren Nixon said: “It was so awful to see my grandma suffering with the disease so we wanted to do our bit to raise awareness and money towards research, My grandma used to go on day trips with Parkinson’s UK and they gave her a lifeline when she was embarrassed to go out so we wanted to give something back. I think she would be very proud that we are fundraising in her memory,”

This is not the first charity event organised by Lauren and her family. The family has also organised two charity bingo events in memory of their aunty Maggie Spedding who died in January aged 59 after a year long battle with cancer.

n The fashion event takes place on September 20 at the Village Hall, Chapel Street, East Butterwick, doors open from 6.15pm, show starts at 7pm, tickets £5 including entry and drink, to book call 07949 341346 or 07947504866
