GENEROUS regulars and staff at a Dearne pub have launched a bid to raise £5000 for the Hounds for Heroes charity.
The fundraising campaign got off to a flying start at the Bluebell Inn at Manvers when a race night raised £50.
If staff reach their total, they will be able to sponsor and name an assistance dog trained to help a disabled serviceman or woman.
Adam Liversidge, pub supervisor, said: “I would like to say thank you to all our customers who donated money and supported the event.”
There are collection points in the bar for anyone who would like to donate to the charity.
The pub is also running a competition where visitors can name the dog. The winner will take home a prize.
Staff are hoping to stage another fundraiser in June.
