Chance to take a close look at UTC Sheffield
Award winning UTC Sheffield students will welcome prospective students and visitors to an event on campus this evening.
Young people who are interested in working at the campus on Matilda Street are invited to tour its facilities from 5pm to 7pm.
There will be opportunities to meet the Principal, teachers, and students who are competing in the prestigious WorldSkills. Visitors can view industry facilities and take part in taster activities.
Employer Dan Fleetcroft, a former Ferrari Formula 1 engineer, from Performance Engineered Solutions Ltd will talk about his experiences and business, and why he has committed to work with the UTC.
Guests interested in the creative and digital industries can try their hand at making a mini film, building a website, robotics and Raspberry Pi while those wanting to study engineering and manufacturing will see the UTC’s mini factory and have a go at 3D printing and the injection moulding machine.
Alex Reynolds, Principal, UTC Sheffield City Centre campus, said: “At the UTC, students develop high level skills that equip them for careers in two sectors of regional growth. This showcase event will profile those opportunities and is suitable for young people who have already applied to start in Year 10 and Year 12 as well as those who are thinking of joining us.”
UTC students complete a technical qualification in either the advanced engineering and manufacturing or the creative and digital industries in addition to GCSEs and A Levels.
