Chief Executive of The Civic in Barnsley, Helen Ball said: “So far this year, we have hosted projects such as Zest Theatre’s GATECRASH, Macbeth with Out of Chaos, Northern Ballet’s Tortoise and The Hare and sell-out show Gary Clarke’s COAL, all of which have delivered outreach workshops and provided excellent learning opportunities for students and young people in Barnsley.”

She added: “We are keen to sustain the new connections made from the success of these projects, so have been working on a Civic Youth Champions scheme. The aim of this long-term project is to give students and young people the opportunity to build confidence, learn transferrable creative and leadership skills, and gain invaluable hands-on experience working in the arts industry.”
