Bristol, who pipped Knights for top spot in the league, will start as favourites to reach the Premiership over the two legs but forwards coach Glen Kenworthy claims Doncaster can upset the odds.

“We beat them down there and whilst they weren’t at full strength on the night they were when we played them up here in the return and we were leading until the last seconds,” said the New Zealander.

“We know they are a strong side and they’ve got different strengths and weaknesses to Yorkshire Carnegie, who we beat in the semi-final.

“But we’ve got nothing to lose in the final and if we can get them panicking then we’ll be in with a shout.

“To give ourselves a realistic chance at Ashton Gate I think we’ve got to go there with some sort of lead so tonight’s game is going to be very important.

“They’ve got a lot of experience of play-off final rugby and they’ll know what they have to do tonight whereas it’s our first time.

“But the boys will go out and give 100 per cent and at the end of the day if 100 per cent is not good enough you have to take it on the chin.”
