Cash for Isle communities to mark the Queen's 90th birthday

To mark this right royal occasion North Lincolnshire Council has set up a cash fund for groups across the county to be used to organise special events to commemorate the date.

On offer from the Community Grant Fund is a total of £25,000 which is available to residents and groups.

Community groups can apply for a slice of this funding to arrange everything from street parties and small events to the supply of commemorative mugs or coins to young people.

Town and parish councils, community groups and even groups of neighbours can get support through the funding.

Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Many people may already be thinking of ways they can celebrate this momentous occasion and we want to help them with this.

“We have set up this special Community Grant Fund specifically to commemorate The Queen’s 90th birthday.

“We will also offer our support in any other way we can.

“We are very keen to bring communities together as it brings about many benefits and celebrating the Queen’s birthday is a brilliant way doing this - building long-lasting relationships.”

She added: “If you are planning any events to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday and would like a share of the funding, please get in touch.”

North Lincolnshire Council is also taking part in the Clean for The Queen campaign encouraging people, community groups and schools in North Lincolnshire to take part in what is expected to be the biggest clean-up in the UK as part the Queen’s birthday celebrations. Support will be provided to those taking part, from collecting waste to lending out equipment.
