TWO cards chains have been told they will remain open until administrators decide on a long term future.
Clintons Cards and Birthdays which have three stores in the Frenchgate Centre and Lakeside Shopping Centre have been saved from the initial wave of 44 store closures announced today by administrators Zolfo Cooper.
The decision regarding the remaining stores will be finalised over the coming weeks with many more expected to be closed.
Administrator Peter Saville said: “Since our appointment, we have been seeking to preserve value and sell the core underlying business as a going concern.
We have received expressions of interest from a number of third parties and are confident that the remaining retail estate will be better placed going forward.
“We are fully aware of the impact these closures will have and are working with a number of relevant agencies and third parties to assist employees affected by the store closures.”
The administrators also revealed talks were further along to help save the Clintons Cards stores, but the future of Birthdays was not looking as promising.
