Car smashes into telegraph pole in Doncaster village, blocking road and diverting buses

A car has smashed into a telegraph pole in a Doncaster village in a ‘serious’ road accident this lunchtime, causing diversions for bus services.

Bus operator First South Yorkshire tweeted that there had been a ‘serious RTC’ (road traffic collision) in Hatfield earlier today.

The smash has taken place in the Doncaster Road/High Street/Station Road area of Hatfield, causing bus services to be diverted.

First said: “The car has knocked down a telegraph pole and our vehicles are too tall to get under it.”

The 84A and 87A services are currently being disrupted.

Inbound 84A services will be following the normal route to Hatfield before turning right at the Ingram Arms and resuming normal service at the Co-op on Station Road. Inbound and outbound services will miss out Crookes Broom Lane.

The bus operator has urged passengers to check services before travelling.
