A DONOR service appealing for blood stocks, especially from young people, is inviting people to join its national campaign to register 100 donors in as many days.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has revealed that the number of 17 to 24-year-olds has dropped this year, with a massive 50 per cent fall in donors aged between 17 and 18 compared to the figures in 2011.

In a bid to attract more younger donors, the NHSBT has enlisted the help of Channel Four’s Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter to pledge their support and model ‘Blood Sister’ and ‘Blood Brother’ t-shirts designed by fashion designer Wayne Hemingway.

A limited number of the t-shirts have also been up for grabs this week via the NHSBT’s Twitter page by following @GiveBloodNHS.

Recruitment events will be taking place across the borough.
