North Lincs Green Party has issued the request following the issuing of exploratory licences for such works to be carried out across the region, including in the Isle.

The party is writing to all town and parish councils in North Lincolnshire with an offer to hold a public screening of the film “The truth behind the dash for gas 2014” followed by a debate concerning the serious issues this film raises about fracking.

A spokesman commented: “This is especially important as exploratory licenses have been granted by Department of Energy and Climate Change for eight locations in the North Lincolnshire area.

“North Lincs Green Party’s aim is to raise public awareness of fracking and how it could have a negative impact on the lives and livelihoods of the population of North Lincolnshire.

“Exploring how fracking could affect house prices, cause serious health problems, increase traffic on North Lincolnshire’s crowded roads and turn this green and pleasant land into a polluted wasteland.”

Sites that have been granted DECC licenses for exploratory drilling projects are as follows: Cottage Farm, Crowle; Eastoft Road, Crowle; Pasture Lane, Amcotts; Temple Gardens, Belton; Haldenbury Hall, Luddington; Pilfrey Bridge, Althorpe; North Street, West Butterwick; Lodge Farm, Broughton.
