A MAJOR recruitment event for ex-service personnel is coming to Doncaster.
On July 7 the Ex-Forces Think Power Recruitment event will be held at Doncaster Racecourse.
Recruitment agency Force 10, which specialise in catering for former forces personnel, has teamed up with The National Skills Academy for Power to put on the event.
The academy promotes jobs education and training in the power sector.
Some of the world’s leading power generation and distribution companies are expected on the day.
Tony Ward, an ex-regimental sergeant major in the Royal Logistics Corps, set up Force 10 based in Broughton Avenue, Bentley.
He said: “It is absolutely brilliant that the National Skills Academy (Power) have chosen Doncaster Racecourse for this event.
“I believe that ex-military personnel are really well suited to the power industry; they are flexible, robust, well-disciplined and able to re-train and re-focus - just what this industry needs.”
Force 10 estimates that in Yorkshire and the Humber alone, 30,000 to 40,000 jobs will be created in the next few years in carbon capture and storage (CCS) and offshore wind technology.
Force 10 places candidates into a range of occupations, including management and supervisory positions, logistics transportation and warehousing and health and training professions.
Doncaster Council has said it would guarantee people leaving the Forces an interview for its own jobs to help them find work.
