Businesses in Doncaster have enjoyed an estimated £15m boost thanks to a record St Leger Festival Week.
The extended 10-day festival, now in its fourth year, was bigger and better than ever with more than 300 separate events.
Doncaster Racecourse had just over 60,000 attendees over the week – up from 58,000 in 2012.
The Mallard locomotive at Doncaster Carrc attracted just over 2,500 visitors from across Britain over the weekend.
All of the main hotels in Doncaster were fully booked over Leger weekend. The opening weekend of Cast attracted over 6,000 people and more than 260 visitors attended an open day at the Mansion House.
Mayor Ros Jones said: “Once again Doncaster has delivered another world-class St Leger Festival Week. From live music to food and drink, heritage and of course racing; there really has been something for everyone.
“Jobs and growth are top priorities for me and tourism is a key industry for our borough. I am delighted to see Doncaster’s profile as a visitor destination growing around the region.”
