AN Isle businessman recently took part in the filming of the latest TV series of BBC1 quiz show Pointless.
Andy Roberts of Carrhouse Road, Belton, went along to BBC Television Centre for two days to compete in the show which is scheduled for screening in early November.
The show, hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman and shown most weekdays at 5.15pm, is a test of random general knowledge and teams are made up of two people who know each other, normally family or friends.
Andy explained that the whole idea was his sister’s.
He said: “She loves the show and watches it most days. It came out of the blue really, she rang one day and said if she got the forms would I enter the show with her, not thinking for a moment that we’d get on, I said yes.
“We were invited for an audition in London and made it through to an on screen interview. We didn’t hear anything for two weeks, then to my amazement, I got a call from the producers who told us that we were going on the show.
“We had about six weeks and I started swotting up on all sorts of topics.”
Andy is a regular at Thursday quiz nights at the Crown Inn in Belton and hoped that some of this knowledge would come in useful - but you’ll have to wait for his appearance to see how he got on.
