A Doncaster baker is celebrating after rising to the challenge of opening up her very own wedding cake shop.
Charlotte Sleight who swapped a career as a literacy teacher to pursue her passion is now the proud owner of Cherry Blossom Cakes in Bawtry.
Miss Sleight celebrating the milestone moment with a glitzy opening event at which customers got to try some of the tasty delights on offer.
Speaking about her shop in South parade Bawtry Miss Sleight, 27, said: “I really got into baking when I made my sister a birthday cake in 2010, it was a bouquet of flowers made from cupcakes.
“I was teaching at Rossington All Saints at the time and I started to get a few orders from staff members there.
“After a while it got to the stage where I was so busy with cake order that I didn’t have time to do both. My family were really supportive and said I could always go back to teaching and to go for it.
“To go from that to having my own business is just overwhelming, I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet.”
As well as making stunning bespoke cakes Miss Sleight also makes her own chocolate bars that are available in store or can be created in miniature version for wedding favours.
Cherry Blossom Cakes offer couples a free consultation service where they can have a tasting session and explain ideas, colour schemes and designs before Miss Sleight sketches some ideas.
The shop is open Wednesday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
