The deadline for this year’s Doncaster Chamber Business Awards has been extended.

Firms across the region can breathe a sigh of relief after Doncaster Chamber announced that due to numerous requests received from local businesses, the deadline for entries has been extended by two weeks – meaning businesses now have until 5pm on Monday 22 September 2014 to send in their entries.

With a considerable number of entries already received, this year’s awards looks set to be the best yet – with a range of businesses already having entered, or currently working on their applications.

The 14 Business Award categories are open to businesses of all sizes and sectors and celebrate the best of Doncaster. Categories include: Excellence in Customer Service, Excellence in Overseas Trade, Excellence in People Development and Training and Business Start Up of the Year.

Deputy CEO Dan Fell commented: “The Doncaster Chamber Business Awards are a fantastic celebration of local business success. This year we have had an unprecedented volume of businesses wanting to enter but that are slightly pushed for time based on full order books and stretched capacity. With that in mind, and to enable as many businesses as possible to enter the awards and share their successes, we have taken the pragmatic decision to extend the deadline by a fortnight.

“Already a large number of firms have entered the awards and we hope that, this year, we will reach a record number of entries. I would urge all Doncaster firms to consider entering the awards and to promote their achievements whether than be in the field of international trade, people development, marketing, CSR or otherwise.

Businesses can enter via the Doncaster Chamber website by completing an entry form which follows a Q&A format for each Award (maximum 1,800 words). Only when entrants reach the second stage will the questioning become more thorough, with an interview with the judging panel.

Previous winners have gone on to win national awards and be showcased in the national media, and benefitted from positive media coverage and profile raising at a local level.

The Doncaster Business Awards, backed by the Doncaster Free Press, take place on Thursday 11 December at The Doncaster Racecourse. Tickets are priced at £55+VAT per ticket or £500+VAT for a table of ten and includes a four course meal, drinks and canapés on arrival, entertainment throughout the evening including a live band and DJ, as well as the awards ceremony itself, which will be hosted by one of the country’s top journalists and presenters, Louise Minchin.
