Boosting trade links in Doncaster

A special conference aimed at forging greater trade links between Doncaster businesses and companies overseas is belng held in the town on Friday, October 10.

Business leaders from across the world will descent on Castle Park Rugby Club for the ‘Export – Achieving Success for Your Business’ event.

The conference is aimed at helping small businesses to learn how export deals with firms abroad can help to boost business.

There will be a mix of seminars, master classes and one-to-one meetings with Chambers of Commerce representatives from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Master classes will cover areas such as ‘routes to markets’, ‘selling services’, and ‘cutting through red tape’.

The free event has been organised by UK Trade & Investment in partnership with Doncaster Council, Doncaster Chamber and MP Rosie Winterton and takes place between 8.30am and 1pm.

UKTI regional director Mark Robson said: “Whether you already sell overseas, or you are just thinking about, the seminar will provide an opportunity to find out about the wide range of support available to help you make international trade a success.

“More than 6,000 Yorkshire companies already export, and for many it is the most profitable part of their business. There is no reason why a great many more cannot join them and follow their lead.”

Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton said: “Businesses are vital to Doncaster’s communities and economy. Small firms in particular are the engine room for job creation across the borough.”
