FANS of the classic Harley-Davidson motorbike will be revving into Doncaster this weekend for a major firesale of the iconic American machines.
One of the largest ever sales of Harleys is taking place on Saturday when the assets of three showrooms go under the hammer.
St Leger Harley-Davidson and similar dealerships in Leeds and Stockport were all part of Summer Retail Ltd, which went into administration last month.
Administrators have appointed international asset consultants Charterfields to sell the company’s assets by auction and a heavily discounted retail sale at the St Leger dealership, off Woodfield Way, Balby Carr.
The sale is expected to attract interest from Harley-Davidson enthusiasts from the UK and Europe.
The auction will feature around 40 used motorcycles including Harley-Davidsons and Japanese and English bikes, clothing and accessories worth around £560,000, along with memorabilia and items from film sets. Tools and workshop equipment from the three dealerships will also go under the hammer.
Viewing is on Friday and the morning of sale.
Robert Edwards, Charterfields associate director, said: “We believe this to be the biggest ever distressed sale of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories. It’s a unique opportunity to acquire products from this brand. We expect it will attract interest from enthusiasts in Europe and beyond.”
