A Doncaster businesswoman has missed out on a prestigious legal award – but is still in the running for another top honour.
Alison Straw, partner and head of family law at Doncaster-based solicitors Taylor Bracewell, missed out in the private client section at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards.
But she is hoping to make up for the disappointment after being shortlisted in this year’s Barclays-Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards, which have attracted its most diverse and largest number of entries this year.
The results will be announced at the Queens Hotel, Leeds, next month, when Alison will be in the running for the title of professional/corporate businesswoman of the year.
She will be joined by Teresa Galley, of Galley Properties, who has been shortlisted in the women in property Section and Michelle Wood, owner of Little Footprint Baby Boutique, who is also up for the professional/corporate businesswoman of the year honour.
Caroline Pullich, of Barclays, said: “Women in business are a major contributor to the UK economy and we’re delighted to be celebrating exceptional achievements in tough trading conditions.
“These awards encourage an environment that supports women.”
