He said it would be open by January 2015 after North Lincolnshire Council had approved a £100,000 investment and traders were now invited to make it a base for their business.

Coun Briggs has been instrumental, along with others, in getting the development up and running and said: “Work on the toilets is well underway and should be finished by the end of September. This is great news for visitors and townsfolk alike. There was a slight delay while approval was given by the Government’s secretary of state and English Heritage to refurbish the listed part of the building at Number 45, but now workmen are on site. I am delighted this is on stream.

“We are still awaiting the outcome of the planning department on Number 6 Market Place for retail and residential use, but we are hopeful that will come soon. This will involve a demolition of the existing building and a complete rebuild by the local authority. I am now sending messages out for inward investment and to the wider business community saying ‘come and join us in Crowle, there’s a real opportunity for the future”

He said the place was buzzing and transforming before people’s eyes and provided a great opportunity for the business world to come on board and make things happen.

Coun Briggs further added: “If people want to be part of the terrific planned future for this part of Crowle they should get in touch with North Lincolnshire Council through its website and by going to the Crowle development land section.
