“I want to reassure members of the community that we are treating both cases as an absolute priority, and offer assurance that while both incidents are extremely serious, there is no suggestion or evidence that they are linked.

“I want the communities these crimes happened in, as well as all of our residents in Doncaster, to feel reassured that we are doing everything we can to ensure those responsible will be held to account for their actions.

“The women in both cases are receiving continual support from specially trained officers and we have increased patrols in the areas to provide a high visibility police presence.

“We do believe the crimes are isolated incidents that have occurred coincidently, and there are a number of further enquiries and potential leads detectives are following up as the investigations progress.
