BREAKING: Man found with fake gun following armed siege in South Yorkshire street

A man was found with an imitation firearm after an armed siege in Doncaster yesterday.

The 29-year-old was arrested after armed officers surrounded a property in Wensleydale Road, Scawsby and specialist negotiators were sent to the scene.

They were called to the property at round 3.30pm and left following the arrest at 10pm.

Wensleydale Road was sealed off for the duration of the siege.

In a statement issued today, South Yorkshire Police said: "At round 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, police were called to a property on Wensleydale Road, Doncaster, following concerns for a man.

"Both specialist officers and armed police attended the address and the road was closed for some time while negotiators spoke to the man.

"At about 10pm, a 29-year-old man was detained on suspicion of the possession an imitation firearm."
