BREAKING: Doncaster road closed and three hospitalised following 'serious' collision

A Doncaster road is currently closed following a 'serious' crash that has led to three people being hospitalised.

The collision occurred in West End Lane, Rossington at 3.45pm today and police have confirmed that the road is currently closed while the incident is 'dealt with'.

An Audi A3 and a Citroen C4 were involved in the collision.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Three people are believed to have been taken to hospital but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

"Anyone who saw what happened should call 101 and quote incident number 726 of 3 August 2016."

A spokesman for the First Bus Company told The Free Press that the collision had led to two of their services being diverted.

They said: "We are unable to operate via the new portion of West End Lane, this is causing disruption to all 55 and 56 services

"56 as normal to West End Lane roundabout, continuing straight ahead to parrots corner, then via the 55 route to Kings Avenue. 55 service as normal to King Georges Rd, Grange Road, Radburn Road, Gattison Lane, Stripe Road, to Parrots Corner then via the new link road to the M18 roundabout to resume normal route."
