A family struck by tragedy has had a memorable weekend together, thanks to support from Pride of the Isle.

The committee funded a Legoland, Windsor visit for the McNaughton family to celebrate Oliver’s fourth birthday.

Debra McNaughton, 38, was the winner of the Pride of the Isle’s Most Inspirational Award this year. The mum of three has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and her eldest son Connor, 18, is being treated for testicular cancer.

A Pride of Isle campaign to raise cash to help Connor fight his cancer quickly realised its target of £2000. Debra was first diagnosed with cancer in April 2012. Following extensive surgery and chemotherapy she was given the all-clear two years ago, However, early last year it was confirmed her cancer had returned.

Debra said: “I would like to thank Leesa and Pride of the Isle team for everything they have done for us! We have returned from a fantastic family weekend away in which we were able to create magical family memories. No amount of money can be measured against the experience.”
