The scheme, Move On, Move Up aims to build a bright future for children with support including offering incentivised extra revision and study sessions and specially designed study guides which will be made available to both students and parents.

Last year the scheme held an extra 31 weekend study sessions across the borough.

Following on from this, the sessions will be rolled out again for 2017.

Each one will be run by qualified learning mentors and designed to support the ongoing work already taking place in schools across Doncaster.

Parents are also encouraged to attend with their children as a way of better understanding the important support they can offer at home.

Incentives including free skating and football tickets will also be on offer for those who attend sessions.

Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones said: “I’m delighted that Move On, Move Up is returning for 2017.

“It’s vital that we give young people in Doncaster the platform and motivation to achieve their full potential and I believe this scheme helps do just that. Our schools already provide fantastic support, but with this little bit extra we hope to make results day the best it can be for all of our students.

“In its first year, Move On, Move Up proved to be a huge success, over 250 people attended at least one session and every one of them said that they had found it useful.

“I’m sure that young people across Doncaster will once again take advantage of the extra opportunities we’re providing to help them get the best grades they can.

“It was great to see more students in Doncaster achieve the aim of 5 A* - C grades in 2016 compared to the previous year, and I hope we see that number rise again in 2017.

“Doncaster has an incredibly bright future.”
