TWO Wath care homes showed their national pride by tucking into the country’s signature dishes as part of British Food Fortnight.

Residents at Sandygate and The Beeches dug into a range of dishes such as roast beef and Yorkshire puddings as part of the national initiative to celebrate our favourite cuisince.

They also took part in quizzes, games and activities that celebrated national and local fare.

Patriotism reigned as the homes were decked in red, white and blue flags and bunting. Staff also produced factsheets on traditional English meals and their histories for residents to read.

Angie Martin, Home Manager at Sandygate, said: “We have residents with dementia, and the food displays really helped them to reminisce.”
