However, Eagles are determined to go into the play-offs in good form and they gathered momentum with two wins inside 48 hours.

The club, however, are waiting to learn the extent of an ankle injury to Oliver Hylands, suffered in the victory over Myerscough College.

Before that a Leeds side sitting bottom of the table dug in and made life difficult for the Eagles.

The game went back and forth for a great deal of the second half before the Eagles’ defence really clicked into gear to help them pull away to victory.

Mathew Martin led all scorers with a 27-point performance, while Hylands (24) and Brandon Smith (11) also impressed.

From the very first minute of what was expected to be a tough test against Myerscough College, the Eagles looked like a side intent on promotion.

And their offensive and defensive game proved to be way too strong for their opponents.

Martin, with 24 points, again led the scorers.

Josh Metcalf showcased some excellent shooting to contribute 21, while 18-year-old Liam Knapp continued his solid season by netting 18.

Head coach Bob Martin said: “Sunday was the best defence we have played all season. When we play like that our offense comes easy.”

Eagles travel to Sefton Stars on Sunday.
