Barnsley business event to feature live link up with Canary Wharf

The Click Together StartUp 2016 event - held at the town centre-based Digital Media Centre today - will feature speakers, training workshops and one-to-one coaching, as well as taking live-streaming of sessions at a parallel event in Canary Wharf in London.

Organised by Enterprising Barnsley and UK business start-up experts Enterprise Nation as part of the Click Together programme, the day is aimed at individuals and businesses considering e-commerce, but is open to all would-be entrepreneurs to help them make the most of new Superfast Broadband services being rolled out across the region.

Up to 100 people are expected at the event with live-streaming from the similar event at KPMG’s headquarters at Canary Wharf, which is expected to attract 4000 people.

Tracey Johnson, DMC project director, said: “The event is being held on a Saturday to allow people who would otherwise normally be in work have access to this level of start-up and new business support. The day is all about bringing some of the best business minds together to inspire the businesses of the future.

As well as hearing from the speakers in the room and being able to take advantage of talking to other experts, delegates in South Yorkshire will be able to tap in to the knowledge of specialists in London.”

After the event Click Together will be running an intensive six-week programme of mentoring for just ten companies. At the end of the six weeks the companies will be given further business support and access to office space at the DMC for a year.
