Company Shop works with retailers, manufacturers and brands in the area to save tonnes of surplus food and products from going to waste every year.

These include products in seasonal packaging, stock with an incorrect weight and items produced at the end of a batch.

Surplus stock is redistributed through its landmark store on the Wentworth Industrial Estate in Tankersley and through the wider network of members-only shops at reduced prices, which includes one in Goldthorpe.

Commercial director Tom Rumboll said; “It is a great honour for Company Shop. We save 30,000 tonnes of surplus food and products from going to waste every year, but importantly we’re about more than just food. Through our model we’re stepping up to the big challenges of food waste and food poverty, as the largest redistributor of surplus stock in the country and as pioneers of the first social supermarket in Britain - which helps get surplus food to the people that need it most.”
