The fire broke out at around 5.30pm on Sunday and is now in its fifth day with acres of moorland and wildlife habitat already lost to the flames.

It is feared many wild animals such as snakes and ground nesting birds have perished in the fire which could burn for weeks.

Residents have been advised to keep windows shut while people have been told to stay away from the scene.
