Awards for '˜educational outcomes' at Sheffield schools
Sheffield schools have been recognised with awards for pupils' progress made between key stage two and key stage four in 2015.
The educational outcomes data analysis from The Schools, Students’ and Teachers’ Network (SSAT) revealed Fir Vale School to be among the top 10 per cent schools for progress, and Parkwood E-ACT Academy to be among the top 20 per cent.
Fir Vale is paraded as a best practice school in the SSAT publication and is also set to feature in the next Parliamentary Review this summer, as a successful school functioning within exceptional circumstances.
Breffni Martin, Headteacher of Fir Vale School said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award from the SSAT, which is not only a reflection on the hard work of our staff and students but also the incredible support of parents and the wider community.”
Fir Vale saw major improvement in students achieving five A*-C grades including Maths and English in 2015 after previously failing to hit the national benchmark in 2014 with 39 per cent of pupils at that level. The 2015 GCSE results showed a strong upturn with 46 per cent of students making the grade.
