It starts from Church Square in Scunthorpe at 12 noon and will end at the Civic Centre where it is believed a petition will be presented to councillor Len Foster, leader of the Labour Group at North Lincolnshire Council.

The meeting of the full council will then take place at the Civic Centre at 2pm.

The first item on the agenda is a joint motion by the leader of the council coun Liz Redfern and leader of the Labour Group coun Foster urging everyone to work together to support steelworkers facing redundancy through the recently established task force.

Simon Driver, chief executive of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The visitor car park will be closed to the public on Tuesday until mid-afternoon.

“We have put the necessary arrangements in place to inform those affected, to help minimise inconvenience.

“Alternative parking is available off Kingsway, close to the Civic Centre. Staff will be directing people to where people can park. But if at all possible, if you don’t need to come to the Civic Centre on Tuesday, it may be best avoiding the area.”
