Armed robbery - police appeal across Isle

A man who conducted a terrifying armed robbery in North Lincolnshire is being sought by police.

The crime took place at a One Stop, Eton Court in Scunthorpe at 10.30pm on February 5.

A man entered the shop and approached the female cashier at the counter, pointed to his blue coloured carrier bag and just said the word “money”.

The woman tipped cash in to the bag, and despite the man demanding more she told him there was nothing else, and he left.

The man who spoke with a foreign accent was reported as having a firearm that was not used. He covered his face using an open black and grey golf umbrella, and wore a balaclava. He was thought to be aged between 40 to 50 years.

Specialist officers were deployed to the area in a bid to track down the offender.

Police are particularly keen to speak to a man pictured in CCTV images, who walked by the shop at the time of the incident. Officers do not believe he is connected to the offence but that he may have seen the offender afterwards.

Detectives are asking all commercial premises in and around the Isle and North Lincolnshire to remain vigilant, and to check their own security measures.

The investigation is in the early stages but may be connected to other armed robberies in Scunthorpe at the end of last year.

Police remind people it is a criminal offence to assist an offender. Anyone who withholds information from police could also face prosecution.
