An appeal to help pay for the funeral of a popular Doncaster doorman has smashed its target after his death.

David Nottingham, 38, a former boxer and familiar sight on the town's nightlife scene on the doors of pubs and clubs, passed away on Saturday morning following a battle with adrenal cancer.

And a Crowdfunding campaign to collect £2,500 for Mr Nottingham's family has now reached nearly £3,000 in the wake of his death.

Friends set up the appeal for Stainforth-based Mr Nottingham's family last week and donations flooded in in the last few days of his life.
