The dancer, also known for her 2015 Masterchef success, visited the Crags Community School in Rotherham to engage 30 pupils in a dance class within her Well Fit initiative.

The project uses dance to increase physical activity levels and boost confidence.

Pupils aged eight and nine took part in a series of warm up exercises before learning isolation moves and finally performing a choreographed dance.

Kimberly, who became an ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust last year, said: “I’ve been dancing for over 20 years, so my body is used to movement and exercise. Dancing has improved my health, but it’s also had a huge impact on my wellbeing and confidence.

“The aim of Well-Fit is to use dance to get more young people physically active, by providing something easy for teachers to use.

“Dance doesn’t need to be complicated, you just need a few core moves and you’re set. Dance activities are a great way of boosting activity while increasing body confidence.”

She continued: “The valuable insight from these schools visits will also help to secure further investment so we can roll the programme out nationwide.”

Kimberly is visiting four other primary schools across the country as part of a dance road show to help shape her Well-Fit primary school initiative, which the Youth Sport Trust will develop and deliver to schools.

Tom Vickers, PE co-ordinator at Crags Community School said: “It was fantastic to have Kimberly visit the school.

“Her passion towards empowering teachers to feel confident to teach dance, and encouraging young people to feel positive and body confident is truly inspiring.”
