A Doncaster fire that has raged on for days has finally come to an end thanks to the work of fire fighters

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have announced that a large fire that caused damage to a recycling centre has finally been extinguished.

The fire in Balby started on Monday, April 5.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have battled the blaze over the last four days and now it is finally been defeated.

In a statement they said: “Firefighters are now leaving the scene, with the fire thought to be fully extinguished.

“An investigation into the cause is on-going and we expect an appliance to revisit the site tomorrow to ensure there are no recurring hot spots.

“The incident will now be handed over to Doncaster Council and a range of other partner agencies who will support the site owners in recovering from the fire.

“We’d like to once again thank local people for their patience, our partner agencies for their support and our firefighters for their amazing work during a really challenging incident.”
