Since applying to be a cadet, the young people have all completed two induction days covering a variety of different topics including health and safety, officer safety, professional standards and fitness.

They will now attend tonight’s event, along with two members of their family, where they will be invited up to the front one-at-a-time to take an official oath and be awarded the title of police cadet by Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Scott Young.

After taking the oath, the cadets will have a variety of different duties. They will attend a two-hour lesson each week, as well as volunteering for at least three hours per month with the community teams.

This volunteering covers a wide range of different exciting opportunities, including: student officer training events, mosque visits, Night Challenge, community early intervention events and the High Sheriff’s legal services lunch.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Scott Young said: “This is the first group of cadets to join Humberside Police for some years, and I’m really excited about cadets being part of the team again.

“I have no doubt that these cadets will be a hugely valuable part of our organisation. They have already shown the willing to work exceptionally hard and have been a huge asset to our team, particularly to training exercises and events.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to officially welcome the new cadets and look forward to seeing their continuing development and involvement with local policing.”

We encourage anyone that is interested in applying to become a Police Cadet to keep an eye out for our recruitment process that will be reopening in April. It will be advertised on our website as well as through our social media channels.
