Wroot pupils take a step back in time

It was a step back in time for pupils at Wroot Primary School when they immersed themselves in prehistory for the day.

With help from staff at North Lincolnshire Museum Service the youngsters dressed up in prehistory attire and explored such eras as the bronze age, stone age and iron age. Classmates had to guess which era they represented based on their clothing.

Teacher Nerrisa Gallagher said: “It was a really great day. The children explored everyday living of the people of prehistory. For example they used soapwort – a herbal based soap, some pupils also became archaeologists for the day exploring ancient artefacts.

“Another group explored what people from the bronze age, stone age and iron age used to eat by examining what they left behind. The idea was to improve their study and inquiry skills and throughout the process they received guidance and advice from museum staff.

“Another group used different archaeological tools and all pupils really benefitted from the day.”
