There are a host of shows to see in Doncaster and elsewhere in the region.
At Cast Theatre tickets are now on sale for a wonderful show.
Doncaster Stage Productions has announced its new play for 2019. Rehearsals will begin in September for its performance of Legally Blonde at Cast Theatre in the town. The society recently celebrated the sell-out production of Sister Act, also at Cast and have been inundated with requests from members of the public who wish to join the society for this next production. Legally Blonde is an award-winning musical based on the ever-popular movie, Legally Blonde The Musical. It follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. This action-packed musical explodes on the stage with memorable songs and dynamic dances. This is a wonderfully vibrant show which will have lavish professional sets and band plus a hugely talented cast including two delightful dogs. This musical has earned itself a cult following of all ages. Local performer Sheridan Smith played the title role of Elle Woods at the Savoy Theatre in the West End in 2010 and was awarded the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2011.
Recently, the society announced its creative production team which includes the society’s very own Amy Louise Coates, who will be directing the society for the first time. Amy is a talented actress and singer who has had lots of experience in the region as a performer. Earlier this year she played one of the lead roles in Maltby’s production of Made In Dagenham at Rotherham Civic Theatre. The group is delighted to welcome her to the production team. It is also excited to once again be working with Ian Gude (above) as Musical Director and his amazingly talented band of musicians. This production also marks his 30th year as an MD.
