Peter Pan is coming to Doncaster Racecourse and producers are searching for talent to take on the role of John Darling.

Producers David Lee and Stadium Entertainments Events Ltd are launching open auditions to find a talented young male from the South Yorkshire region to take on what is one of the lead roles in the timeless J. M. Barrie fairytale, which wings its way to the Town Moor track this festive season.

The ‘Search for John Darling’ open auditions will take place on Sunday August 31 at The Diamond Live Lounge in Doncaster.

“We have always had a great response from the very talented array of artists in the region over the 15 years we presented record-breaking pantomimes at the Civic Theatre,” said director David Lee, on a recent visit to Doncaster.

“I’ve always been very impressed with high level of the talent here in the north. I for one am looking forward to seeing who comes through the door on Sunday 31st August. Hopefully we’ll find a budding New Star! It’s a great opportunity,” he added.

The show will star Sally Thomsett from the Golden Age of TV Sitcoms like ‘Man About The House’ and hit movies ‘The Railway Children’ plays Mrs Darling. There is also the welcome return of Comedy Favourite Pee Wee Price in the role of Smee.

“John of course will fly to Neverland along with Peter and his brother Michael and sister Wendy. The role of Michael Darling has already been cast.” commented Lee.

All artists wishing to audition must be male, aged between 13 and 15 and with a maximum height of 5’ 3” and of slim build. They must have strong acting and vocal ability with stage experience.

The Open Auditions will take place at The Diamond Live Lounge on August 31 2014, with registration taking place from 11am to 12pm. All applicants are advised to arrive early to be seen and will be given a script to read for the audition. Up to ten artists will be shortlisted to appear at the recalls in September 2014.
