An icy cold day saw thousands of visitors flock to the picturesque market town of Bawtry to enjoy a Christmas Spectacular.
The event, which is in its third year, saw the town’s retail association host a stunning event which enveloped the main street and quaint courtyards with festive stalls, fairground rides, a visit from Father Christmas and his elves, Polar Bear Santa (pictured), live music, fun and laughter.
“We had an absolutely amazing day and want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who played their part in making it so special for all our visitors,” said Rebecca Dickenson Chair Bawtry Retail Association. “One of the highlights of the day was our traditional carousel which Bawtry Town Council kindly sponsored and staffed throughout the day keeping lots of children and their families happy”.
As is tradition, the unveiling of the Womack’s Christmas window also took place, revealing a visual masterpiece complete with fake snow falling from the roof, Scottish pipers and dancers and a fire eater on stilts much to the delight of the crowd who cheered and clapped as the windows were unveiled!
“Womack’s certainly know how to do Christmas and I am certain this year their window would rival displays in any major city including London,” said Rebecca. “It was fantastic to see such spirit and camaraderie amongst all Bawtry businesses and retailers making the day very special for all our visitors.”
Bawtry businesses will remain in the Christmas spirit with late night openings, festive treats at cafes, bars and restaurants as well as being a superb place to find amazing Christmas gifts for friends and family. Details of opening hours and offers can be found from individual retailers.
Bawtry Retail Association (BRA) is a member organisation of businesses and retailers in the town. They work together to promote the town, attract visitors and business investment and host a calendar of events throughout the year.
