Take on Dryathlon and bin the booze in September for Cancer Research

There is still time to sign up to Dryathlon - Cancer Research UK’s booze-free fundraising campaign this September.

Dryathlon is the original fundraising campaign that invites social drinkers to take a month-long break from alcohol. ‘Dryathletes’ pledge to ditch the drink for a month and either get sponsored or donate the money they would have spent on alcohol to the charity.

This is the first time that Cancer Research UK has run Dryathlon outside of the usual January campaign. Nicki Embleton, Cancer Research UK spokesperson for Yorkshire, said: “After a summer of boozy holidays and ‘one too many’ at weddings, it offers men and women the chance to kick-start the month with a clear head.

Every day, around 78 people are diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire and The Humber*. Dryathlon aims to raise money to accelerate groundbreaking research to help more people survive and ensure more families stay together.

Lisa added: “We’re urging people to sign up, drop the drink and help raise money for life saving-research. By simply swapping their lager for a latte or their wine for water, and donating money, our Dryathletes can help us succeed in our mission to beat cancer sooner.” Supporters can register to take part in Dryathlon as individuals or set up a team and get their friends, To take part visit www.dryathlon.org
