Chief organiser Fiona McCormack said the retro-Valentine’s event, to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, was a “huge success” and she also thanked the committee of Haxey Memorial Hall for allowing the dance to be held there.

The money raised on the night was £953 with additional funds raised from the organisers Just Giving page.

Fiona said: “Everyone had a brilliant time. In addition to the money raised on the night the just giving page which currently stands at £208 has taken us well over £1,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.”

Fiona, whose nine-year-old son Jasper suffers from cystic fibrosis, added: “It was a wonderful night and in addition to a hog roast supper, a candy floss machine, a cake stall and even single red roses on sale with confectionery inside to raise funds.

“We had so much fun we have started to make plans for next year’s fundraiser with a 1950s band, Louis, Louis, Louis, already booked.”
