Senior citizens in Bawtry are invited to join diners at China Rose Restaurant for the festival of Chongyang on Sunday.
The festival is when Chinese people celebrate their elders with a festival of food, drink and outings and on Sunday, October 18, pensioners in the town can enjoy a celebratory lunch, complete with 1940’s entertainment and music, all completely free of charge between noon and 4pm at the restaurant in South Parade.
Restaurant manager, Carly Hui, said: “Chongyang is a very important festival in our calendar and we thought that this was a fantastic way to celebrate and respect our elders in the town where we have had our restaurant for 30 years. We look forward to welcoming around 100 guests on Sunday to enjoy our superb food and hospitality.”
Guests will enjoy a three course Chinese meal with tea or coffee and a complimentary drink on arrival. Swingamathing, an authentic 1940’s swing band, will bring the music and style of that time to life.
Carly added: “Family is held in very high esteem in Chinese culture with the young and elderly receiving extra special attention. Celebrating this traditional Chinese festival with our local community will be extra special and should be an afternoon that we will all remember for years to come.”
Guests can apply to come along themselves or be nominated to attend. They must be resident in Bawtry and be of pensionable age. Should transport not be available China Rose can arrange for this.
The event is from noon until 4pm. Lunch and arrival drink will be provided free of charge by China Rose. There will be a charge for any additional drinks.
If you would like to attend, or you know someone who you would like to nominate, please pick up a form from China Rose, call 01302 710461 or 711338, or download one from the China Rose
