The event welcomed all ages to the College to show case the fantastic work of the students and staff in conjunction with the North Lincolnshire's Children's University.

Every curriculum area created a fun activity which linked to special guest, Bjorn the Polar Bear.  For the first time ever in Scunthorpe, the show stopper at the event was the full size animatronic polar bear who entertained the crowds. Together with his Arctic conservationist companion, Bjorn was the centerpiece of an interactive performance which was a cross between a petting zoo and a nature documentary. During the show the audience found out about how polar bears survive in the Arctic and got the opportunity to interact with Bjorn.

A festive market gave the opportunity for some last minute shopping and the Wold Singers choir sang Christmas carols to visitors.

Nikki Codd, visitor at the event said, 'I came to the open event for the first time with my daughter.  Every single person we met was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Very impressed with our first visit, lots of useful information.  A big thank you to Samantha and Kieran who showed us around the animal care unit.

'We had a great time at the open event.  We were shown by students where we needed to be and given a map listing all the activities.  My daughter loved seeing Bjorn the polar bear and stroking him.  It was a great well organised event for all the family and can't wait to see what's planned for next year,' said visitor Kirsty Shaw.

Visitors had the opportunity to chat to tutors and current students, as well as make their application for September 2019.  The next advice and enrolment event is on Wednesday 16th January, 4.30pm-8.00pm which will offer the opportunity for visitors to ask questions, receive careers advice and meet the tutors.
