Lonnie Donegans son Peter Donegan is set to play Doncaster.
Due to a late venue relocation, Peter Donegan, son of the legendary British Skiffle and Blues/Rock singer Lonnie will be performing on Friday October 4 at the Warde-Aldham Centre on The Doncaster Deaf Trust Campus, Leger Way 7.30pm for 8pm.
He has as previously played Doncaster Civic Theatre.
Following his father Lonnie’s passing, a tribute concert took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and Peter found himself performing alongside rock music icons such as Mark Knopfler, Joe Cocker, Roger Daltrey and Van Morrison.
In 2000 Van Morrison and Lonnie had recorded “The Skiffle Sessions: Live In Belfast,” a collection that featured many of Donegan’s best-known songs.
Soon afterwards his father’s death Peter Donegan became part of a stage show, “Lonnie D - The Musical.” The initial part of the show’s title came from a tribute song composed by Chas Hodges [Heads, Hands & Feet] and Dave Peacock – aka the Cockney performing duo, Chas ‘n’ Dave - and their song opened the show.
Peter will play many of the songs that his father made famous along with many self penned pieces. The gig is billed “An evening with Peter Donegan” so some audience Q & A will be welcome. Support act will be from Barnsley Comedy Trio “The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican”
