Businesses from around the region are being urged to make a knockout effort by signing up for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice’s funniest event of the year.

The charity is holding an It’s A Knockout competition based on the hilarious cult TV show from the 1970s, which includes wacky games, outrageous costumes and props from the original programme.

Now in its second year, the charity’s fun-filled competition takes place at Dinnington Rugby Club on Saturday July 12, where teams will compete for first place.

Each team needs to raise £1,000 in sponsorship and can have between 10 and 12 members. Entry is free.

Julie Hampson, corporate fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: “Last year’s It’s A Knockout was fantastic day with a lot of fun and laughter.

“As a business challenge it’s a great opportunity for companies to sign up to a different type of team building day, while at the same time helping your local children’s hospice.”

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston, Sheffield, is the only children’s hospice in South Yorkshire.

It provides care for children and young people with a shortened life expectancy. The hospice is a place of love and laughter, creating special memories for children and their families. To provide care and support services the charity needs to raise £3 million a year, but receives less than five percent of statutory funding.

Telereal Trillium who have supported the hospice since 2012 and raised over £15,000 have entered a team from their Leeds Customer Service Centre and are encouraging many other businesses to sign up too.

Irene Smyth, CSC Manager at Telereal Trillium said: “As a team we have visited the hospice on several occasions as volunteers where we have worked in the garden painting, building and cleaning.

“After our initial visit we have been inspired to help the charity further and have signed up a team for their It’s A Knockout event”.

It’s A Knockout starts at 11:00am and features a family fun day including craft stalls, tombola and a raffle. There will also be sporting challenges, live entertainment, mini fairground rides and face painting. Other attractions include a barbeque and licensed bar.
