Doh Wah, in Cross Street, Balby broke the news to customers in a Facebook post, bringing an end to 40 years of trading.

A statement said: “It is with a heavy heart to have to announce that we will be closing – this time will be a permanent closure.

"In the last two weeks, we have tried to soldier on, and have realised it's not sustainable under our circumstances.

“We at Doh Wah would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone for their custom and support over the years and since Doh Wah first opened its doors in October 1981.

"It hasn't gone unnoticed and it is extremely appreciated.”

“It has been a pleasure.. to all a farewell.”

Many food and drink venues have struggled during the coronavirus lockdown, with several closing permanently, while many others now operate under reduced hours.
