A Doncaster band selected to play a major summer music festival will share the bill with legendary rockers including The Who, Iggy Pop and Richard Ashcroft.

Bang Bang Romeo will play the iconic Isle of Wight Festival for the second time but this time on the prestigious Big Top stage

We just can’t wait to step out on that stage now and show people what we are all about

The 60s inspired Tarantino rockers made their festival debut at the event last year playing on the smaller Jack Daniels Rocks stage.

Front woman Anastasia Walker said: “We are still pinching ourselves.

“To see our name up on the line-up among our idols and such iconic artists is something we’ve always dreamed about.”

Guitarist Ross Cameron said: “It’s crazy.

“We watched The Charlatans on The Big Top stage last summer and were saying how much we would love to play on that massive stage.”

The four piece made waves in 2015 with debut single ‘Johannesburg’ receiving widespread critical acclaim and airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and Radio X.

Bassist Joel Phillips said: “We just can’t wait to step out onto that stage now and show people what Bang Bang Romeo are all about.

“John Giddings from the festival has been amazing and we are so grateful for this opportunity.

“He caught wind of last year’s reviews and sent a scout to check us out in London recently.

“Reports back were that he loved the show and wanted to see it on a bigger stage, and true to his word he has gone and stuck us on the second biggest stage at the festival.”

Joel added: “A big thanks also has to go to Mikey Jonns at This Feeling who took a chance on us last year and gave us the platform to prove ourselves.

“We just want to blow that tent apart now to show our gratitude.”

Bang Bang Romeo had initially exploded onto the radar in 2014, with debut EP We Were Born produced by the legendary Chris Kimsey of Rolling Stones and INXS fame, receiving widespread critical acclaim.
