Consibrough Gala hailed best yet

Huge crowds descended on Conisbrough as organisers of the town’s annual gala hailed it the best yet.

Despite a morning downpour the shower failed to dampen spirits as hundreds of folk of all ages enjoyed an array of attractions.

Penny LLoyd-Rees, secretary of organisers Conisbrough Forward said: “It was a brilliant day and people stayed right to the end.

“Hundreds of people watched the Street Vibes dancers and the performance by Conisbrough Castle Cavaliers.

“It was really hot day and the downpour in the morning didn’t dampen people’s enthusiasm. I think it was Words: Kev Rogers

“It wasthe best ever, there were far more people here than last year.”

As well as dance performances other attractions on the Ivanhoe Centre fields included face painting, a fairground and bouncy castle as well as displays of falconry.

The Ivanhoe Centre hosted its first produce and craft show for years.

Ivanhoe Centre chairman, Ron Pleasance said: “It was a small show but a good one and we expect lots more entries next year.”
