An official launch night for the silver anniversary Doncaster Beer Festival was a huge success.
The event held at The Leopard in West Street was attended by more than a dozen local landlords, CAMRA members and invited guests.
CAMRA member, Brian O’Sullivan, said it also gave his organisation the chance to begin celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Doncaster branch of CAMRA.
He added: “The beer festival opens at Doncaster College hub on April 9, but this launch event gave us the opportunity to introduce it to a wider audience.
“It also gave us the chance to begin our 40th anniversary celebrations which are planned for the summer, hopefully at The Leopard, where we launched 40 years ago. We are aiming to invite former members along and also invite many of the 1,200 members we currently have across the district.”
Alongside the promotional material CAMRA had for the 25th anniversary beer festival at The Leopard launch night there was a selection of real ales including favourites Barnsley Bitter, Doombar, an Ossett Brewery selection of ales, American Pale Ale from Stencil Brewery in Sheffield and beers from Sharp’s Brewery in Cornwall.
Brian O’Sullivan further added: “The beers on sale at The Leopard launch night were only a sample of the 106 brews we will have on sale at the festival. If the festival launch night is anything to go by it should be a great success. We aim to make the event equally as successful as last years, if not more so.”
The Doncaster Beer Festival, at Doncaster College hub, runs from Thursday April 9 to Saturday April 11.
